Al Wasl Hit Five Past Al Dhafra to Open ADIB Cup Campaign in Style

Al Wasl produced a commanding comeback performance as they overturned an early deficit to record a 5-1 away win over Al Dhafra in gameweek one of the ADIB Cup.

The hosts struck first after just 15 minutes when Rayan Yaslam rose brilliantly to meet Mohammed Elkhaloui’s pinpoint cross, guiding a diving header into the far corner to break the deadlock.

Al Wasl responded before the interval with a moment of quality from N'Guessan Jean Kouadio, who unleashed a superbly struck effort from inside the penalty area to draw his side level heading into half-time.

The visitors took control just after the hour mark through a well-constructed move down the right.

Pedro Malheiro beat his marker with pace and precision before cutting inside and squaring for Renato Júnior, who applied a composed close-range finish to put Al Wasl in front.

With momentum firmly on their side, Adama Diallo then delivered the decisive blow with a quickfire brace inside ten minutes.

His first came in the 78th minute, timing his run perfectly to collect Tahnoon Alzaabi’s incisive through ball, cushioning it on his chest before firing a clinical strike into the top corner for 3-1.

Moments later, Diallo struck again, meeting Abdelrahman Saleh’s accurate cross from the left and lifting a deft chip over the goalkeeper.

Salem Al Azizi showed superb awareness to latch onto a precise through ball from Tahnoon Alzaabi just inside midfield in the injury time.

The winger lifted the ball delicately over the advancing goalkeeper before racing through to nod it into the empty net with composure to seal an emphatic 5-1 victory.

Al Wasl’s attacking display showcased both individual brilliance and collective sharpness, setting the tone for their ADIB Cup campaign ahead of the return fixture in gameweek two.
