The ADNOC Pro League returns with another exciting round of action as Matchweek 5 takes place on Thursday and Friday, September 10 and 11, highlighted by three major clashes.
Al Jazira host Al Nasr and Al Ain face Al Wasl in two eagerly anticipated encounters on Thursday, before Al Wahda and Sharjah bring the round to a close with another heavyweight contest on Friday.
With some teams looking to maintain their strong starts and others aiming to regain momentum, the stakes are high and every point could prove crucial.
The other four fixtures also promise plenty of excitement. United host Shabab Al Ahli at 17:40 on Thursday, while Hatta face Al Dhafra and Khorfakkan take on Bani Yas at 17:40 on Friday. Ajman then welcome Kalba to Rashid Bin Saeed Stadium at 20:15 later that evening.
Al Jazira head into Matchweek 5 at the top of the standings with 12 points, ahead of second-placed Al Ain on goal difference. Al Wasl sit third with nine points, followed by Shabab Al Ahli and Sharjah, who also have nine points.
Al Wahda occupy seventh place with six points, while Al Nasr are ninth with four. Those positions add further importance to the three headline encounters, particularly for Al Nasr as they look to return to winning ways.
Al Jazira vs Al Nasr: Leaders Face a Tough Test
Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium will stage the clash between Al Jazira and Al Nasr at 17:40 on Thursday, with the league leaders looking to continue their historic start to the season.
Al Jazira have won their opening four matches of the campaign, achieving the feat for the first time in their professional-era league history.
They are also chasing a sixth consecutive ADNOC Pro League victory, having won their last five league matches — four this season and their final game of last season. Al Jazira have not put together a run of six straight league victories since November and December 2020, during the season in which they went on to win the title.
Al Nasr, meanwhile, are looking for a response after suffering back-to-back defeats. Another loss would see them suffer three consecutive league defeats for the first time since February and March 2025.
Al Jazira also hold the historical advantage in this fixture. They have recorded 18 wins in 34 professional-era league meetings with Al Nasr, compared with 11 victories for the Dubai side, while five matches have ended in draws.
Al Jazira have scored 69 goals against Al Nasr in those meetings, while Al Nasr have found the net 54 times.
Al Ain vs Al Wasl: History Beckons for Al Ain
Al Ain welcome Al Wasl to Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium at 20:15 on Thursday in one of the standout fixtures of Matchweek 5.
Like Al Jazira, Al Ain have made a perfect start with four wins from four. Victory on Thursday would see them win their opening five matches of a professional-era league season for the first time.
Al Ain have traditionally enjoyed the upper hand in this fixture, winning 21 of their 34 professional-era league meetings with Al Wasl. Al Wasl have recorded five victories, while eight matches have ended level.
The visitors, however, arrive in impressive form away from home. Al Wasl have won their last four ADNOC Pro League away matches, a streak they have bettered only once, when they recorded seven consecutive away victories between December 2023 and May 2024.
Al Ain also boast an outstanding home record. They are unbeaten in their last 21 ADNOC Pro League matches on home soil, recording 16 wins and five draws.
The hosts could reach further milestones on Thursday. Al Ain have scored in each of their last 31 league matches and would equal their longest scoring streak in the competition by finding the net against Al Wasl.
They are also just one goal away from reaching 500 home goals in the professional league, excluding the 2010-2019 season.

Al Wahda vs Sharjah: Winning Streaks on the Line
The final blockbuster of Matchweek 5 takes place at Al Nahyan Stadium, where Al Wahda host Sharjah at 20:15 on Friday.
Both teams enter the contest on the back of two consecutive ADNOC Pro League victories and will be looking to make it three wins in a row.
Al Wahda have the better historical record in this fixture, winning 16 of the teams' 32 professional-era league meetings. Sharjah have won eight, with the other eight ending in draws.
Al Wahda have also scored 62 goals in those encounters, compared with Sharjah's 36.
The hosts are targeting three consecutive league victories for the first time since September and October 2025. Sharjah, meanwhile, are seeking three successive wins within the same league season for the first time since January 2025.
Sharjah have also won their last two away matches in the ADNOC Pro League and are now aiming for three consecutive victories on the road for the first time since the 2023-24 season.
