Al Wahda and Al Ain Play Out Goalless Draw in UAE Clasico

Al Wahda and Al Ain played out a goalless draw at Al Nahyan Stadium on Sunday, November 8, in Matchweek 8 of the ADNOC Pro League, with both sides creating several scoring opportunities but failing to break the deadlock.

The result took Al Wahda to 13 points in fifth place, while Al Ain moved to 14 points in third.

The opening half saw both teams exchange possession and attacking opportunities, with Al Wahda coming close to taking the lead in the 23rd minute when Mohammad Ghorbani's header struck the post.

Al Ain responded in the 42nd minute when Baba Ilou received a well-placed pass from Matias Palacios, but his attempt went over the crossbar, leaving the score level at half-time.

The visitors continued to threaten after the restart, with Ilou missing another opportunity in the 58th minute after finding himself in a promising position in front of goal.

Al Ain captain and goalkeeper Khalid Eisa then produced an important save in the 64th minute, denying Christian Benteke's powerful effort and turning the ball behind for a corner.

Both sides pushed for a winning goal in the closing stages, but neither could find a breakthrough as the encounter ended 0-0.

Al Wahda held a slight advantage in possession with 51%, compared with Al Ain's 49%. However, the visitors recorded the higher passing accuracy at 89.11%, against Al Wahda's 87.96%.

The result also marked the third goalless draw between Al Wahda and Al Ain in their Pro League meetings, with all three taking place at Al Nahyan Stadium, following previous 0-0 encounters in 2010 and 2015.
