Al Jazira climbed to fifth place in the ADNOC Pro League table after a hard-fought 1–0 win over Al Bataeh in the closing match of Matchweek 7 at Mohamed bin Zayed Stadium.
The decisive moment came in the 27th minute when Congolese striker Simon Banza scored with a composed finish to secure all three points for the Pride of Abu Dhabi.
The result lifted Al Jazira to 13 points, while Al Bataeh remained on three points in 12th place.
Al Jazira began the match on the front foot, creating several chances and forcing strong saves from Al Bataeh’s goalkeeper in the 17th and 43rd minutes.
Their attacking persistence paid off midway through the first half when Banza found the back of the net, becoming the eighth Congolese player to score in UAE Pro League history.
Al Bataeh thought they had equalized early in the second half, but their goal was disallowed after a VAR review confirmed a foul in the build-up.
Al Jazira continued to press for a second goal, with Banza and Ibrahim Adel both coming close, but the finishing touch was missing.
