Al Wasl secured a crucial 1–0 win over Al Wahda in Matchweek 11 of the ADNOC Pro League, with a late goal deciding the contest at Zabeel Stadium on Friday evening.
The breakthrough came in the 84th minute when Brahian Palacios capitalised on a goalkeeping error, rounding the keeper before calmly finishing into the empty net to seal the win for the hosts.
The result lifts Al Wasl to 21 points, moving them into second place, while Al Wahda also remain on 21 points but drop to third.
The victory was particularly significant for Al Wasl, as it ended Al Wahda’s long unbeaten league run dating back to January 2025 and marked Al Wasl’s first league win over Al Wahda since February 2019, ending a 10-match winless streak in the fixture.
The match was largely cautious in the opening stages, with few clear chances in the first half. The only effort on target before the break came from Sergio Pereira, whose shot was comfortably saved by Mohamed Alshamsi.
Al Wahda showed more attacking intent after the interval and nearly took the lead in the 65th minute when Dusan Tadic's cross narrowly evaded Omar Khribin in front of goal. Al Wasl responded with increased pressure, and Palacios’ late strike ultimately proved decisive.
In the closing minutes, Al Wahda pushed for an equaliser, but goalkeeper Khaled Alsenaani
produced a key save to deny Khribin, preserving Al Wasl’s narrow advantage until the final whistle.
