Shabab Al Ahli secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Al Jazira at Rashid Stadium in Matchweek 21 of the ADNOC Pro League, thanks to a late header from Renan Victor da Silva.
The hosts made a strong start and took the lead in the 19th minute through Yuri César, who finished clinically from inside the box to give his side early control.
Al Jazira responded with intent and were rewarded in the 69th minute when Nabil Fekir converted from the penalty spot, calmly slotting the ball into the bottom corner beyond the goalkeeper’s reach to bring the visitors level.
With the game finely poised, it was Shabab Al Ahli who found the decisive moment late on.
Turning provider, Yuri César delivered a pinpoint cross from a corner, met by a perfectly timed run from Renan Victor da Silva, who powered his header home to restore the lead and seal all three points.
The result temporarily lifts Shabab Al Ahli to the top of the table on 52 points, while Al Jazira remain third with 37 points.
