Bani Yas claimed a valuable 2-0 win over Al Wasl in their rescheduled Matchweek 16 clash at Bani Yas Stadium, securing an important three points in the ADNOC Pro League.
The hosts settled the contest early with two first-half goals. Youssoufou Niakate opened the scoring in the 19th minute, finishing directly from a precise cross delivered by Saviour Godwin.
Bani Yas continued to press and doubled their lead in the 30th minute when Mahamadou Camara headed the ball into the net to give the Sky Blues a comfortable advantage before halftime.
Bani Yas remained the more threatening side after the break and nearly extended their lead in the 65th minute.
Godwin saw his initial effort saved by the goalkeeper before attempting a clever chip over him, but the crossbar denied what would have been a third goal. Niakate reacted quickly to the rebound but sent his attempt wide.
Despite Al Wasl’s efforts to get back into the match, the scoreline remained unchanged as Bani Yas held firm to secure a well-deserved victory.
The result lifts Bani Yas to 17 points in 12th place in the standings, while Al Wasl remain on 30 points in fifth.
