ADNOC Pro League: Title Race and Relegation Battle Headline Matchweek 20

The ADNOC Pro League enters a decisive stage as Matchweek 20 approaches, with the battle for the top spot and the fight to avoid relegation set to headline the upcoming round.

With the season moving into its crucial phase, every point has become increasingly valuable in shaping the league standings.

The narrow gaps between teams have intensified the competition across all positions, making each match potentially decisive.

The race for the title remains particularly intense between Al Ain and Shabab Al Ahli.

With only a single point separating the two sides, the rivalry at the top continues to grow with every round.

At the same time, the fight for Asian qualification places remains highly competitive among the teams near the top of the table, while several clubs at the lower end are battling to distance themselves from the relegation zone.

Matchweek 20 will be played over three days, starting Monday, March 16, and concluding on Wednesday, with all matches scheduled to kick off at 9:30 pm.

The round begins with two matches carrying different ambitions.

Dibba, currently bottom of the table with 14 points, host second-placed Shabab Al Ahli, who have 46 points and are determined to keep pace in the title race.

Dibba, meanwhile, are desperate for points to keep their survival hopes alive.

In the other match of the opening day, Al Jazira welcome Khorfakkan at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium.

Al Jazira are aiming for a fifth consecutive victory after four straight wins lifted them to third place with 34 points.

Khorfakkan, ninth with 20 points, will be looking to end a winless run that stretches back to Matchweek 15 and secure a more comfortable position in the standings.

The highlight of the second day will be the highly anticipated Abu Dhabi derby between Al Wahda and Al Ain at Al Nahyan Stadium.

Al Ain enter the match as league leaders with 47 points and will be eager to maintain their position at the top, while Al Wahda, third with 34 points, are looking to bounce back after their defeat in the previous round.

Historically, Al Ain have the edge in this fixture with 16 wins compared to 10 for Al Wahda, while seven matches have ended in draws.

However, Al Wahda have enjoyed the upper hand in the last three meetings in the ADNOC Pro League, winning twice and drawing once.

Another closely contested match will see Kalba face Sharjah at Kalba Stadium. Both teams are level on 20 points, with Kalba sitting eighth and Sharjah tenth on goal difference.

A victory for either side could help them move closer to the upper half of the table.

The final day will feature three matches, all with teams looking to recover from recent setbacks and improve their standings.

Al Nasr host Al Bataeh at Al Maktoum Stadium, with the home side seeking to build on the previous win that lifted them to sixth place with 26 points. Al Bataeh, second from bottom with 16 points, are in urgent need of points to move away from the relegation zone.

At Zabeel Stadium, Al Wasl face Al Dhafra in another unpredictable encounter. Both teams suffered defeats in the previous round, leaving Al Wasl in fifth place with 30 points, while Al Dhafra sit 12th with 18 points.

The round concludes with Ajman hosting Bani Yas at Rashid bin Saeed Stadium. Ajman occupy seventh place with 23 points, while Bani Yas sit 11th with 20 points, with both teams eager to secure a win that could improve their position in the table.
