The UAE Pro League organized a workshop on Wednesday, September 9, to mark the start of the 2027-28 club licensing cycle. Held at Rixos Premium Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi, the workshop was attended by licensing and finance officials as well as legal advisers from professional clubs.
Musab Al Marzouqi, CEO of the UAE Pro League, opened the workshop by welcoming club representatives and highlighting the importance of the club licensing system as a key pillar of professional football.
Al Marzouqi emphasized the system’s role in strengthening governance, improving administrative and financial efficiency, and promoting sustainability across professional clubs.
He also highlighted the progress made by the UAE’s club licensing system since its introduction in 2013 and the distinguished position it has achieved at the Asian level. He stressed that this progress has been the result of years of continuous development and close cooperation between the UAE Pro League and professional clubs.
The workshop reviewed the latest updates for the 2027-28 club licensing cycle, with particular emphasis on the importance of early preparation. It also highlighted the need for continued communication and coordination between the UAE Pro League and clubs to ensure clear requirements and a smooth licensing process.
Participants were briefed on the latest updates to the financial criteria, as well as the legal criteria and key requirements for the 2027-28 licensing cycle.
The workshop also included a presentation on the Club Empowerment Program, outlining its objectives and its role in supporting clubs, developing their capabilities, and enhancing institutional efficiency.
At the conclusion of the workshop, certificates were presented to participants in the Club Empowerment Program. Club representatives were also given the opportunity to share their feedback and suggestions and discuss the main topics addressed during the workshop.
The UAE Pro League organizes the club licensing cycle launch workshop annually as part of its ongoing communication with professional clubs. The initiative reflects the League’s commitment to working closely with clubs to further develop the licensing system and raise professional standards in support of the continued development of UAE football.
