Al Wahda came away from BAni YAs Stadium with a valuable 1-0 win thanks to a first-half header from centre back Fares Juma in Matchweek 15 of the ADNOC Pro League on Thursday.
After a cagey start to the game, Omar Kharbin thought he had opened the scoring for the visitors halfway through the opening period, pouncing on a split attempt to save by Bani Yas goalkeeper Fahad Al Dhanhani but skying his shot with the empty goal at his mercy.
Just before the teams headed to the dressing rooms for the break, Al Dhanhani was punished for a second error as defender Juma headed home Al Wahda's opener in added time.
Portuguese winger Fabio Martins beat the goalkeeper in the 65th minute but watched his powerful drive bounce off the upright, while at the other end of the pitch Al Wahda goalkeeper Mohammed Al Shamsi produced a fine save to deny Nicolas Gimenez three minutes later.
The visitors weathered a late avalanche of Bani Yas attacks to hold on to their first league victory at Bani Yas since 2016, moving up to third place with 30 point while Bani Yas remained seventh with 19 points.
