Al Wasl fought back to play out a 2-2 draw against Shabab Al Ahli at Rashid Stadium in matchweek 24 of the ADNOC Pro League on a night of frazzled nerves on Sunday.
Ahmad Noorollah put the hosts ahead early in the second half, hammering home an assist header from Syrian forward Omar Khribin to the delight of the Rashid Stadium crowd.
Yahya AlGhassani doubled his side's lead, three minutes before the hour-mark, when he was teed up by Yuri Cesar inside the box, as the former as he kept his composure and lashed home a shot into the bottom corner to cap off a swift counter-attack.
Eight minutes later, Fabio De Lima reduced the deficit for Al Wasl and made it 1-2 when he met Felipe Gutierrez's low cross with a clinical finish from outside the box into the top corner of the net beating goalkeeper Hassan Hamza Ali.
The hosts thought that they had secured a vital victory over Al Wasl, but the latter refused to give up and leveled the scoring in the stoppage time when Shabab Al Ahli's defender failed to properly clear the ball, which fell to Ghanem Ahmed who fired a powerful strike from close range into the back of the net, to make it 2-2.
The result means that Shabab Al Ahli are still at the top of the ADNOC Pro League's table with 51 points, while Al Wasl are fourth with 44 points.
