The UAE secured their place in the Gulf Cup 27 semi-finals after a convincing 3-0 win over Bahrain at Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Sports City Stadium in Jeddah on Sunday.
The UAE produced another strong performance to record their second consecutive victory in Group B, following a 4-0 win over Yemen in their opening match.
Ousmane Camara opened the scoring in the 30th minute, heading home to give the UAE a deserved first-half lead.
The UAE remained in control after the break and doubled their advantage in the 66th minute through Guilherme Bala, who finished from inside the penalty area.
Ali Saleh completed the win in the 88th minute, adding a third goal to put the result beyond Bahrain and confirm the UAE’s qualification for the last four.
The victory took the UAE to six points from two matches. Qatar are also on six points, but the UAE lead Group B on goal difference after scoring seven goals without conceding across their opening two fixtures.
The UAE will conclude their group-stage campaign against Qatar on Wednesday, September 30, in a match that will decide the final positions at the top of Group B.
Group B also includes Bahrain and Yemen, with the top two teams advancing to the semi-finals. The group winners will face the runners-up from Group A, while the Group B runners-up will meet the Group A winners.
The semi-finals are scheduled for October 3, with the Gulf Cup 27 final set for October 6 in Jeddah.
