Ajman Fight Back To Hold Bani Yas To 1-1 Draw

Ajman and Bani Yas played out a 1-1 draw at Rashid bin Saeed Stadium on Sunday in Matchweek 8 of the ADNOC Pro League, with Victor Souza cancelling out Saviour Godwin's first-half opener.

The result took Ajman to 10 points in eighth place, while Bani Yas remained bottom of the standings in 14th with just two points, extending their winless start to the league season.

Bani Yas broke the deadlock in the 48th minute, during first-half stoppage time, when Godwin fired a shot from inside the penalty area to give the visitors the lead just before the interval.

The first half had been evenly contested, although Bani Yas enjoyed a slight advantage in possession and posed the greater attacking threat.

The visitors controlled 51.6% of possession compared with Ajman's 48.4%, registering two attempts on goal while the hosts failed to produce a shot before the break.

Ajman responded with greater urgency in the second half, pushing forward in search of an equaliser as they attempted to prevent Bani Yas from securing their first league victory of the campaign.

Their efforts paid off in the 71st minute when Souza struck a shot that deflected off a Bani Yas defender and changed direction before finding the back of the net, restoring parity for the home side.

The equaliser gave Ajman renewed momentum, and they continued to press for a winning goal as the match entered its closing stages.

The hosts came agonisingly close to completing the comeback when a late effort struck the post, denying them the opportunity to claim all three points.

Despite their late pressure, Ajman were unable to find a second goal, leaving both teams to settle for a point.
