Al Jazira Return to Top After Dramatic 2-2 Draw With Kalba

Al Jazira returned to the top of the 2026-27 ADNOC Pro League standings after coming from two goals down to secure a dramatic 2-2 draw against Kalba at Kalba Stadium on Sunday in Matchweek 6.

Goals from Malcom Oliveira and Vinicius Mello rescued a valuable point for the visitors after Benjamin Tetteh and Guilherme Sucigan had given Kalba a commanding early lead.

The result took Al Jazira to 14 points at the top of the standings, while Kalba moved to five points in 11th place.

Kalba made a flying start, opening the scoring after just one minute and 27 seconds when Tetteh found the net in the second minute.

The hosts doubled their advantage in the eighth minute through Guilherme Sucigan, leaving Al Jazira facing a two-goal deficit early in the encounter.

Al Jazira responded in the 22nd minute when Malcom Oliveira pulled a goal back. The goal was initially checked for a possible offside before being confirmed following a VAR review.

Kalba maintained their 2-1 advantage until half-time, having enjoyed more than 53% possession during the opening period.

Al Jazira stepped up their attacking efforts after the break as they searched for an equaliser.

Kalba suffered a setback in the 67th minute when Ibrahim Cisse was forced off through injury after the hosts had used all their substitutions, leaving them to complete the match with ten players.

The visitors took advantage of their numerical superiority and continued to press forward.

Their efforts paid off in the 81st minute when Vinicius Mello scored the equaliser to make it 2-2.

Neither side managed to find a winner in the closing stages, allowing Al Jazira to secure a point and return to the top of the table.
